Plot summary
Eddie Macon moved from Florida to Texas to provide for his wife Chris and their son Bobby, who has a blood disorder. His temper lands him in jail on minor infractions, and an unsuccessful escape attempt brings a harsh prison sentence. Convinced the punishment is unjust, Eddie and Chris work out an escape plan. Eddie joins the prison rodeo, stows away in a cattle truck and sets out across the Texas wilderness, heading for Laredo on the U.S.-Mexico border, where Chris will meet him for a new life south of the border. Carl Marzack, the detective who recaptured Eddie after his first escape, is tracking him again.
