Plot summary
Nicholas DeFranco, a Mafia informant, is set to testify against his former bosses and then enter witness protection. The Department of Justice wants him alive until the trial, so it hires Rollie Tyler, a movie special-effects expert, to stage DeFranco's murder in public. Rollie loads a gun with blanks and fits DeFranco with radio transmitters and fake blood packs. DeFranco is to wear the rig to an Italian restaurant, where the fake assassination will be staged. Colonel Edward Mason, the supervisor on the case, asks Rollie to be the assassin in disguise.
