Plot summary
Raymond Avilla joins the Internal Affairs Division of the Los Angeles police and is partnered with Amy Wallace. The two begin with a drug bust in which patrolman Dorian Fletcher shoots an unarmed man and Dennis Peck, a senior officer, leaves a knife beside the body. Their inquiry looks into Peck, who is held up as a role model on the force. He supports three former wives and eight children, a household that does not fit a patrolman's pay, and his finances do not add up. Peck is devious, a womanizer and a clever manipulator, and he turns his attention to Avilla.
