John Davis Chandler

Biography

John Davis Chandler was an American actor who worked in film and television from the early 1960s. Born in Hinton, West Virginia, he played the gangster Vincent Coll in Mad Dog Coll in 1961 and a teenage killer in The Young Savages (1961) the same year. He also worked in several westerns directed by Sam Peckinpah and had television roles from the 1960s to the 1990s, among them The Rifleman, Route 66, The Virginian, Adam-12, Gunsmoke, Quincy, M.E., Columbo, Murder, She Wrote, Walker, Texas Ranger and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. In 1962 he played an escaped convict called Dog in a Virginian episode titled The Brazen Bell. He also appeared in The Outlaw Josey Wales, and his exchange of lines with Clint Eastwood's character became famous. He died in 2010.
