Moon of the Wolf (1972) on Netflix

Plot summary

A young woman's mauled body turns up in Marsh Island, a bayou town in Louisiana, and Sheriff Aaron Whitaker takes the case. The town's doctor reports that a blow to the head killed her, though many residents blame wild dogs, and a posse combs the countryside without success. Her brother Lawrence Burrifors insists her lover is the killer, a man whose name he does not know. The girl's sick father, Hugh Burrifors, warns the sheriff about the Loug Garog, a term he does not understand. The inquiry takes Whitaker to the plantation of Andrew Rodanthe and his sister Louise, the last of a local family, and Andrew says malaria kept him in the night the girl died.
