Biography

Cliff DeYoung is an American actor and musician born in Los Angeles. He first gained notice as the frontman for Clear Light, a 1960s rock band that shared bills with The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin. After the group broke up, he starred on Broadway in Hair and in the Tony-winning Sticks and Bones, then returned to California for the 1973 television movie Sunshine, which featured songs by John Denver; My Sweet Lady from it reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1974. He has worked in over 80 films and television series, among them Blue Collar (1978) as an FBI agent, Shock Treatment (1981), where he played twins who sang together, and Flight of the Navigator (1986) as Bill, a boy's father. In Glory (1989), he was Union Colonel James Montgomery, and he later appeared in Suicide Kings (1997), with guest roles on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, JAG, and The West Wing.
