Plot summary

Power and communications have failed at the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository, a military-run uranium mine that is normally closed to civilians. A crew of civilian technicians is the closest one available on short notice, and Major Tom McQuade, from the Department of Defense, leads it to the site. The technicians arrive to find the place deserted. Their search turns up Jesse, an orphaned teenage hacker whose uncle Joe works at the mine; Joe had caught Jesse trying to steal dynamite there. Jesse is catatonic and in shock. Unable to fix the communications equipment from the control room, the team concludes that it must head down into the facility's classified lower levels, over McQuade's objections, to find what has gone wrong. Down there, dinosaurs have taken over the facility.

  • Executive producer Roger Corman already wanted a Carnosaur sequel before the first film, Carnosaur (1993), had completed production, and writer Michael Palmer said Roger wanted to be ready because everyone felt the first film would do well.
