Plot summary
In 1938 a team of archaeologists hunting the tomb of the pharaoh Ahkmenrah in Egypt uncovers the Tablet of Ahkmenrah; the young Cecil Fredericks is the one who finds it, and as a sandstorm forces the dig to pack up, the locals warn that taking the tablet away will bring the end. Seventy-six years on, Larry Daley still guards the night at New York's Museum of Natural History, where the tablet brings the exhibits to life, and the museum is getting ready to reopen its planetarium. Ahkmenrah reveals a corrosion creeping over the tablet, and the exhibits begin behaving oddly. The retired guard Cecil, released from prison, remembers the warning and points him toward Ahkmenrah's parents, Merenkahre and Shepseheret, who are held in a London museum. Larry asks the curator Dr. McPhee to send Ahkmenrah to them.
