Plot summary
Stuart and Nina Pearson take their children Tom, Bethany and Hannah to a rented lake house in Creek Landing, Michigan, for the summer. Stuart's brother Nathan arrives with his sons Jake, Art and Lee, along with the boys' grandmother Rose. Bethany's boyfriend Ricky turns up and talks his way into staying. Tom and Jake go up to the attic to fix the satellite dish and find four aliens inside; their ship had crashed into the dish. The aliens intend to conquer Earth, and they carry a mind-control weapon that works only on adults. Ricky falls under their control. Rather than tell the grown-ups, the kids decide to keep the aliens hidden and defend the house, looking for a way to stop the invasion.
