Plot summary
One night in Chicago, police officer Sharon Pogue holds the hand of a traffic accident victim and urges him not to give up. A year later she is estranged from her family because she had her father arrested for beating her mother, and neither her father nor her brother has forgiven her. A man who gives his name only as Catch does good deeds for strangers and watches Sharon from across the street. When gunmen open fire on the diner where she is sitting, she chases one of them and he takes her weapon; Catch wrestles the man down. The two meet at a tavern that night, but Catch will not talk about himself.
