Plot summary
Their packages get mixed up at a Manhattan bookstore counter on Christmas Eve: Brian, Molly's husband, and Ann, Frank's wife, each open a book meant for the other. Molly is a commercial artist and Frank an architectural engineer, and both live outside the city and take the train in to work. Three months later they find themselves on the same morning train from nearby stops, and Frank places her, recalling the books. Frank's employer wants him in Houston, and Molly visits her father in the hospital. That evening Frank waits at Grand Central Terminal, and the two agree to meet on the train again later that week. Both are married and say they are not looking for an affair.
