Simon Rex
Biography
Simon Rex Cutright, born in 1974 in San Francisco and raised in Alameda, is an American actor and rapper who first became known as an MTV VJ in 1995. He moved into acting, starring in the sitcom What I Like About You and in Scary Movie 3 (2003), Scary Movie 4 (2006), and Scary Movie 5 (2013), as well as Pledge This! (2006) and Superhero Movie (2008). Under the alias Dirt Nasty, he put out solo albums and helped start the hip-hop group Three Loco. His lead performance in Sean Baker's drama Red Rocket (2021) drew critical acclaim and won him the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead. He later appeared in Mack & Rita, Americana, The Sweet East, Greedy People, Blink Twice, and Everything's Going to Be Great.

In 2020, with his music career stalled and film work dried up, Rex sent director Sean Baker a video audition and was quickly offered the lead in Red Rocket.
