Plot summary
Lillian Wade, a high school senior from South Carolina, travels with her class to Washington, D.C. A gunman storms a restaurant there, convinced it conceals a pedophilia ring, and Caleb, an anarchist activist, guides her away from the scene. He brings her to the home he shares with fellow dissidents, and the group heads out to a protest, only to find they have gone to the wrong location. At that gathering she encounters Lawrence, a university professor on the far right who sympathizes with Nazis, and he invites her to stay at his home. Lillian lets a friend know she is unharmed and has no plan to go back to her family. News reports say police are searching for her and that she may have been abducted.
