Plot summary

Will is a rookie police officer who has just moved to Providence, a small Southern seaside town, with his pregnant wife Paige. On his first afternoon his partner Terry leaves him alone in the cruiser to visit a woman he is having an affair with, so Will answers a dispatch call on his own. At the house he mistakes for the scene of a burglary, he fires at the occupant, and she is killed in the fight that follows. Terry arrives to find him distraught. The dead woman is Virginia Chetlo, whose husband Wallace owns a fishery. In the living room the officers come upon a basket holding a large sum of money, and, knowing what the truth would cost them, they agree to take the cash and stage the house as a robbery.
