Nancy Travis
Biography
Nancy Travis is an American actress whose early work was on the New York stage, including a Broadway debut in I'm Not Rappaport and helping found the Off-Broadway company Naked Angels. Her first leading screen part came in the ABC miniseries Harem, opposite Omar Sharif, and she broke through in 1987 as Sylvia Bennington in the comedy Three Men and a Baby, a role she returned to in Three Men and a Little Lady (1990). Films in the 1990s included Internal Affairs (1990), Air America (1990), Passed Away (1992), Chaplin (1992), So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993), Greedy (1994) and Fluke (1995). On television she headlined the sitcom Almost Perfect and later joined the cast of the sitcom Becker in its last two seasons, and from 2011 to 2021 she played Vanessa Baxter in Last Man Standing. She also starred in The Kominsky Method and Ride.

Travis helped start the Off-Broadway company Naked Angels and acted in its staging of Frank Pugliese's Aven U-Boys, plus King of Connecticut.
First role
Travis made her screen debut in 1985, taking a supporting part in Malice in Wonderland, a biographical film made for television that starred Elizabeth Taylor.
A role that slipped away
Travis was cast in The CW medical drama Hart of Dixie as Emmeline Hattenbarger, but left the show after two episodes because of her commitments to Last Man Standing.
Behind the camera
Travis produced and starred in the Lifetime romantic drama My Last Love in 1999, and also produced and starred in the CBS sitcom Work with Me the same year.

In 1985, Travis first appeared on Broadway in I'm Not Rappaport. She also took a starring role in Athol Fugard's My Children, My Africa.
