Plot summary
Spencer Koll has returned from a Marine deployment, and something horrific that happened to him while he served makes ordinary life among his friends and his girlfriend hard to take up again. His days draw him toward Alice, a mysterious woman on a determined journey of her own who becomes everything to him. At a party, she tells him the story of the submarine kid. A ghost from the war visits him. The two of them begin a magical and destructive relationship, and it brings their essential truths into the open.
