Plot summary
Niece Patti, nephews Carl, Frank and Glen, and their spouses Ed, Nora, Tina and Muriel all want a share of the $25 million that Joe McTeague, a wheelchair-using scrap-metal tycoon, will leave behind. Joe prefers the company of Molly Richardson, the nurse he has hired. Frank hires a private detective, Laura, to bring home the cousin who left the family years ago. Laura finds his son Danny instead, a professional bowler who has just lost a tournament and been told his wrist is showing early arthritis. Joe always favored Danny. Danny's girlfriend Robin, a television sports producer, pushes him to ask his great-uncle for a $300,000 loan to open a bowling alley. Joe agrees only if Danny sides against his own father. Danny refuses and leaves.
