Biography
Mike Tyson is an American boxer who fought professionally from 1985 to 2024. He won his first nineteen pro bouts by knockout, with twelve of those ending in round one, and at twenty years old he became the youngest man to claim a heavyweight title. From 1987 to 1990 he held the undisputed world heavyweight championship, and he was the first heavyweight to simultaneously own the WBA, WBC, and IBF belts. Buster Douglas upset him in 1990, but Tyson won the WBA and WBC titles again in 1996. Evander Holyfield stopped him that year, and their 1997 rematch ended with Tyson disqualified after biting Holyfield's ears. Lennox Lewis knocked him out in a 2002 title fight. In 2024 he lost a unanimous decision to Jake Paul. The Ring ranked him 16th among the greatest punchers, and ESPN placed him first among heavyweight history's hardest hitters. He appeared in Rocky Balboa (2006) and The Hangover (2009).

Tyson was discovered at the Tryon School for Boys by Bobby Stewart, a juvenile detention counselor and former boxer, who introduced him to manager Cus D'Amato.

In November 2024, Tyson fought Jake Paul and lost by unanimous decision. That bout drew the largest boxing gate ever recorded in the US outside of Las Vegas.
