Plot summary

Vera Barrie, in New York, is the daughter of wealthy, indulgent parents, and she seems to be improvising the beginning of her adult life. She explores how far her intelligence and her sexuality can carry her. She brings men she meets on the street back to her apartment, videotapes a sexual encounter with a female lover, and holds sexually frank discussions with a potential employer. Her boyfriend, Ford Welles, is a fast-talking hustler ready to do anything to make a buck. He meets Count Tommaso Lupo, an aging Italian media mogul who is interested in Vera, and he proposes to hand her over to the Count for $100,000. Vera agrees.
