Plot summary
Christy Salters grew up in Mullens, West Virginia, where she played several sports and impressed boxing trainers by hitting harder than many of the men. She started working with Jim Martin in 1989, and they married a few years later although he was about twenty-five years older. A string of small bouts led to Don King taking her on and putting her on the undercard of a 1996 Mike Tyson fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, after which he marketed her and Martin as a husband-and-wife team. Behind the promotion, Martin told her that being lesbian meant she would never get another manager, called her his personal ATM, and kept her away from other people. He also installed cameras around their home.
