Fallen Champ: The Untold Story of Mike Tyson (1993) on Netflix

Plot summary

Mike Tyson was in jail on a rape sentence while the film was put together, so his side of the story is carried by interviews he had given earlier. The people closest to him speak at length, among them friends, and other boxers appear in archival clips. Around those voices the film sets out a life that moved from a troubled upbringing to a quick climb through the boxing ranks and then to the difficulties that came with fame. Made for television and first shown on a national network, it took a Directors Guild of America award for documentary directing in 1993.
