Maura Tierney

Maura Tierney is an American actress, born and raised in Boston's Hyde Park, who built her career largely in television, starting out in plays before moving to Los Angeles in 1987 and taking a role in the made-for-television film Student Exchange. She gained national exposure as Lisa Miller on the sitcom NewsRadio from 1995 to 1999, and during that run appeared in films such as Primal Fear (1996), Liar Liar (1997), Primary Colors (1998) and Forces of Nature (1999). From 1999 to 2008 she played nurse Abby Lockhart on ER, a part that earned her an Emmy nomination and grew from a guest appearance into a regular role. Her film work includes Insomnia (2002) and Scotland, PA (2001), for which critics praised her. She won a Golden Globe for The Affair, and later appeared in Beautiful Boy (2018), The Report (2019), The Iron Claw (2023) and Twisters (2024).
