Plot summary
Frances Hannon, the wife of a wealthy businessman, is abducted and buried alive, her air supply running out. Her captor, who calls himself Harry Houdini, tells her husband Clark that one million dollars buys the location of the burial site, and that any police involvement means she will never be found alive. Detective Madeline Foster is put on the case anyway, working against the clock to locate the woman and identify the man behind the demand. A car chase brings Houdini into custody, but at the station he will not say where Frances is buried, and the interrogation becomes a contest between the detective and the man who arranged it.
