Plot summary
Taylor Mendon writes for Those McAllisters, a low-rated sitcom, and his drinking, drug use and compulsive gambling have already cost him work. His analyst sessions exist mainly to convince his wife Lorraine that he is in treatment. Word arrives that their 20-year-old niece Amanda is in Las Vegas working as a prostitute. When Lorraine catches Taylor betting on horses at the track and threatens divorce, he agrees to bring Amanda back and pay for treatment at a rehab center. In Las Vegas he tracks her down: she has money and a settled view of her life, and shows no interest in reform. Taylor meanwhile borrows from the casino to keep gambling, and must keep the habit hidden from Lorraine.
