Biography

Kim Dickens is an American actress whose screen career began after she studied communications at Vanderbilt University and trained at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Born in Huntsville, Alabama, she made her professional screen debut in Palookaville (1996), then took leading and supporting roles in films such as Great Expectations, Zero Effect, Mercury Rising, Hollow Man (2000), The Gift (2000), House of Sand and Fog (2003), The Blind Side (2009), Footloose (2011), At Any Price (2012), Gone Girl (2014), Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016), and Land (2021). On television, she played Joanie Stubbs in Deadwood, earning a Screen Actors Guild ensemble nomination, and later appeared in Lost, Friday Night Lights, Treme, House of Cards, and Fear the Walking Dead as Madison Clark. She also received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Things Behind the Sun (2001).
