Plot summary
Jerry, Russ and Sid live in a town that holds no future for them, and the three want enough easy money to leave it behind. Their attempt at a jewelry store robbery goes badly and lays bare just how poor they are as criminals. An armored truck driven by Mr. Kott then catches their attention, and a black-and-white film they watch persuades them that robbing the truck is possible. While they plot the caper, their families come apart around them: Jerry's wife is Betty, Russ's girlfriend is Laurie, and the homes the three of them come from are troubled as well.
