Plot summary
Logan is 13 and a daydreamer, and he is starting to sense that he might be gay. He has no idea how to hide it, so his classmates make him a target, and he begins to experiment with cross-dressing and makeup. His best friend, Joey, pulls away after Logan insists on wearing lipstick for a picture. Rodeo, a popular ninth-grader, does not torment him, and Logan develops a crush on the older boy. From that crush he builds Leah, a girl with all the confidence he lacks, and phones Rodeo in the voice of a girl who admires him. In the same weeks, mountain lions have been wandering into the populated parts of town.
