Plot summary
In Minnesota, Owen Peadman tends bar, and his father's small restaurant is short of the money it needs to keep going. Owen heads to Los Angeles to raise the money, and his uncle Earl gives him a place to stay there. To reach the money he needs, Owen works at finding a way into Hollywood society, where a chance run-in brings him Lisa Mancini, a wealthy socialite, and Hayden Field, her boyfriend, an actor. Owen leans on a little influence and some blackmail to taste the scandalous habits of the Hollywood upper crust, while his romantic feelings for Lisa keep growing.
