Jack Mulhall
Biography
Jack Mulhall was an American actor who started in silent films and made the move to sound, appearing in more than 430 movies over 50 years. Born in Wappingers Falls, New York, he performed in vaudeville, musical comedy, and legitimate theater before his first film role beyond extra work, in The Fugitive (1910). He also modeled for magazine illustrators. During the 1920s he was a popular silent star, with films such as We Moderns, The Mad Whirl, and The Social Buccaneer. His mid-career work included The Three Musketeers (1933), Burn 'Em Up Barnes (1934), and The Clutching Hand (1936). In the late 1940s he joined Ken Murray's stage revue Blackouts, then appeared on television in the 1950s, last on 77 Sunset Strip. His final film was The Atomic Submarine (1959). After leaving acting, he worked as a contract negotiator for the Screen Actors Guild until 1974, and he received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 1960.
