Anne Nagel
Biography
Anne Nagel was an American actress who played in adventures, mysteries and comedies over a 25 year career. Born in Malden, Massachusetts, she was steered toward a convent school before a Shubert Theatre membership changed her plans, and her stepfather, a Technicolor expert, brought the family to California and put her in experimental color shorts. A bit part in the Mack Sennett comedy Hypnotized followed in 1932, and in 1935 she was one of 14 young women signed to six-month contracts at 20th Century Fox. After a year at Warner Bros., where she took ingenue and incidental roles, she freelanced for Monogram and then signed with Universal Pictures in 1939, appearing in The Invisible Woman (1940), Black Friday (1940) and Man Made Monster (1941), plus the serial The Green Hornet. Her later roles were smaller, and she worked in television in the 1950s.
