Louise Currie
Biography
Louise Currie was an American actress who trained at Max Reinhardt's drama school and worked mainly in B movies and serials from 1940 into the early 1950s. Born in Oklahoma City in 1913, she became interested in acting while at Sarah Lawrence College, and talent scouts spotted her during a stage workshop. With help from her agent Sue Carol, she began making films at Monogram and Columbia, usually playing the heroine. Her first appearances came in 1940, in Billy the Kid Outlawed and the Kay Kyser musical You'll Find Out. She starred opposite Tom Tyler in the serial Adventures of Captain Marvel (1941) and had an uncredited part in Citizen Kane (1941). Later credits include The Masked Marvel (1943) and, opposite Bela Lugosi, The Ape Man (1943) and Voodoo Man (1944). She had roles in 39 films between 1940 and 1949, took a few television roles in the 1950s, and retired from acting in 1956.
