Guy Rolfe

Biography

Guy Rolfe was a British character actor best known for playing villains. Born in London, he worked as a boxer and racing driver before turning to acting at 24, with a stage debut in Ireland in 1935 and an uncredited screen start in Knight Without Armour. After the Second World War, bit parts gave way to leading roles and to Hollywood work, including Caiaphas in King of Kings (1961) and Prince Grigory in Taras Bulba (1962), alongside Hammer films such as Yesterday's Enemy and The Stranglers of Bombay (both 1959). The title role in Mr. Sardonicus (1961) later brought him a part in Stuart Gordon's Dolls (1987), and in the 1990s he played André Toulon in five Puppet Master films. He also appeared as Sherlock Holmes in The Case of Marcel Duchamp and as the sinister Yves de Charolais in a 1969 episode of Department S.
