Greg Sestero
Biography
Greg Sestero is an American actor, model, author, and filmmaker who began with minor parts on Nash Bridges and in Gattaca (1997) and Patch Adams (1998). Raised in Danville, California, he trained at the American Conservatory Theater and modeled for Armani before taking the lead in Retro Puppet Master (1999). Sestero became widely known as Mark in Tommy Wiseau's The Room (2003), a movie that was poorly reviewed but later drew devoted fans through midnight showings and an international tour. He wrote about that experience in The Disaster Artist, which won Best Non-Fiction at the National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards and was adapted into a 2017 film. His later screen work includes Dude Bro Party Massacre III (2015), Best F(r)iends (2018), which he wrote, and Cyst (2020). He made his directorial debut with Miracle Valley, which premiered in 2021.

A change of course
Sestero wrote a Home Alone sequel at age 12, titled Home Alone 2: Lost in Disney World, and sent the screenplay with a poster and soundtrack ideas to Hughes Entertainment, which led to a letter from John Hughes that he credits with inspiring his acting career.
Big break
Sestero met Tommy Wiseau at a 1998 acting class taught by Jean Shelton, and Wiseau promised to hire him as co-star if he raised funds for The Room; Sestero only agreed to work behind the scenes, but Wiseau had the original actor cast as Mark removed and replaced him with Sestero.
Early training
Sestero began modeling during his junior year of high school, working in Milan and Paris for designers including Giorgio Armani and Gianfranco Ferré, before returning to the US to study at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.
