In Search of Dr. Seuss (1994) on Netflix

Plot summary

The editor of The Ferncrest Times wants an article on Dr. Seuss, so Kathy Lane, a reporter, goes to Theodor Geisel's home in La Jolla, California. There a strange character introduces himself as the Cat in the Hat and leads her through a magical book into the world of Geisel's stories. On a beach the two read The Sneetches, which grew out of a political cartoon the Cat shows her. In a kitchen she meets Mr. Hunch, who talks about Geisel's childhood and shows her McElligot's Pool. Horton the Elephant appears, and she reads Horton Hatches the Egg in a jungle. The Cat describes the 1920s, and Kathy then wanders into the World of Advertising, where the Ad Man and the Ad Woman explain Geisel's work in advertising.
