Ana Gasteyer
Biography
Ana Gasteyer is an American actress, comedian, and singer who built her career in sketch and improv before spending six seasons on Saturday Night Live from 1996 to 2002. Born in Washington, D.C., she trained with The Groundlings and appeared in small television roles before joining SNL, where she became known for characters such as Bobbie Mohan-Culp, Margaret Jo McCullen, and Cinder Calhoun, along with impressions of Martha Stewart and Celine Dion. After leaving the show, she played Cady Heron's mother in Mean Girls (2004) and appeared in the musical film Reefer Madness (2005). Her stage work includes originating Elphaba in the Chicago production of Wicked, which earned her a Jefferson Award nomination, and starring in The Threepenny Opera and The Royal Family on Broadway. She later co-starred on Suburgatory and had a starring role on People of Earth, voiced Nut in Magical Girl Friendship Squad, and originated Mildred Layton in Schmigadoon!, earning a Tony Award nomination.

A first
Gasteyer originated the part of Elphaba in the Chicago sit-down staging of Wicked, which opened July 13, 2005. Her work brought a Jefferson Award nomination, and she later reprised the role on Broadway.
Early training
Gasteyer spent her summers training at Interlochen Center for the Arts. She then enrolled at Northwestern University as a music major and earned her degree from its School of Communication in 1989.

Gasteyer used her singing training to record I'm Hip, a 2014 album of jazz standards that included "One Mint Julep."
