Tina Fey
Biography
Tina Fey is an American comedian, writer, producer, and actress from Upper Darby Township, Pennsylvania, who began performing with the Chicago improv group The Second City. She joined Saturday Night Live as a writer in 1997, became its first female head writer, and co-anchored Weekend Update, later winning an Emmy for her impersonation of Sarah Palin. She created and starred as Liz Lemon on 30 Rock, receiving Primetime Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild awards. Her film work includes writing and appearing in Mean Girls (2004), voicing roles in Megamind (2010) and Soul (2020), and acting in Baby Mama (2008), Date Night (2010), Sisters (2015), and A Haunting in Venice (2023). Fey also created Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and co-created The Four Seasons, wrote the memoir Bossypants, and adapted Mean Girls into a Broadway musical that earned her a Tony nomination.

Fey was hired as a Saturday Night Live writer in 1997 after submitting scripts at the request of head writer Adam McKay, a former Second City performer, and meeting creator Lorne Michaels.

In 2000, Fey started doing sketches and became a co-anchor of Weekend Update with Jimmy Fallon. She said she never asked to audition, and Michaels approached her, calling the choice "kind of risky" then.
