Plot summary
In Hawaii, fraternal twins Phil and Stew Deedle spend their days surfing and living on money their father Elton has earned. Expelled from school for skipping class on their eighteenth birthday, they are sent by Elton to a boot camp in Yellowstone National Park. The camp has closed under lawsuits, and its former owner, Major Flowers, decides to train them himself; on the way he drives off a cliff and ejects the brothers. They take clothes from a campsite and ride a luge down to the ranger station, where a collision with the park sign leaves them mistaken for Mel and Mo, two naturalist recruits. The twins wake in the hospital and take on those identities. Phil grows fond of Lieutenant Jesse Ryan, Captain Pine's stepdaughter, and Pine, the station's commanding ranger, is not pleased with either brother.
