Plot summary
Based on the short stories of Jean Shepherd and on the stage musical A Christmas Story: The Musical, the live broadcast is set in 1940s Indiana, where Ralphie Parker, who is nine, wants a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. His family in that Indiana town is his mother, his father, known as the Old Man, and his brother Randy; at school are Miss Shields, Schwartz, Flick and Scut Farkus. Songs written for the broadcast include "Count On Christmas" and "In the Market for a Miracle", and the numbers also include "It All Comes Down to Christmas", "Red Ryder Carbine Action BB Gun", "A Major Award" and "When You're a Wimp".
