Woman on Top (2000) on Netflix

Plot summary

Isabella Oliveira has had motion sickness since childhood, so she stayed indoors while other children played, and her mother taught her to cook. She became a chef and married Toninho; together they opened a restaurant in Bahia, where she cooked in the kitchen and he worked the front room. Her condition means she has to be the one in motion, driving instead of riding, taking stairs instead of elevators, leading while dancing, staying on top in bed. Resentful, Toninho takes a neighbor as a lover, and Isabella sees them. She prays to Yemanjá, goddess of the sea, to free her from her love for him, then flies to San Francisco to stay with Monica, the friend she grew up with in a fishing community.
