Allyn Joslyn

Biography

Allyn Joslyn was an American character actor who worked in theater, radio, film and television and specialized in comic parts. Born in Milford, Pennsylvania, he trained in drama with Professor E. C. Durfee at Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia before attending Columbia University, and by 1921 he had joined the Greenwich Village Follies. His performance as Robert Law, a part said to be modeled on the screenwriter Charles MacArthur, in the 1935 Broadway hit comedy Boy Meets Girl drew the notice of the Hollywood producer and director Mervyn LeRoy. That led to Joslyn's screen debut in 1937 in LeRoy's They Won't Forget (1937), which also introduced Lana Turner to film audiences.
