Plot summary
Olivia Riley is a successful nightclub dancer in New York City who has grown tired of that life. She agrees to marry Henry Linden, a farmer from Wisconsin. Hannah, Henry's domineering sister, sends his brother David to New York to talk him out of the wedding. David questions Olivia's integrity and she slaps him. She tells a resentful former boyfriend that she is marrying Henry because he loves her, and that he is the only person who expects the best of her. On the family's Wisconsin farm, Hannah harasses her verbally.
