Plot summary
Ashley Albright works in public relations at Braden & Co. in Manhattan and has had good fortune since childhood. Jake Hardin has the opposite experience: bad luck meets him daily. He is the unpaid American manager of the British band McFly and has spent weeks trying to get their demo to Damon Phillips, a record label owner, hoping the band will be discovered and he will become a music producer. Jake slips into a masquerade ball that Ashley is hosting, hoping to reach Phillips there. At the ball, a fortune teller tells Ashley that her luck is about to shift, and when Jake asks her to dance, they kiss.
