Yuji Okumoto
Biography
Yuji Okumoto is an American actor who studied acting at Cal State Fullerton and began landing screen roles in the 1980s. His early films included Better Off Dead... (1985) and Real Genius, and he became best known for playing Daniel's rival, Chozen Toguchi, in The Karate Kid Part II (1986). He went on to appear in True Believer (1989) as Shu Kai Kim, a character based on Chol Soo Lee, followed by American Yakuza (1993) and the Disney Channel movie Johnny Tsunami (1999), in which he played Pete Kapahala. Later credits include Pearl Harbor, Only the Brave (2006), Inception and Driven (2019). He produced the independent film The Paper Tigers and acted in it, and in 2021 he returned to the role of Chozen for the series Cobra Kai.

Own stunts
Okumoto started karate when he was 13, training under different sensei. At the time of The Karate Kid Part II, he was 27 and had a brown belt in Karate plus basic skills in Taekwondo and Judo.
First role
Okumoto appeared in the play Indians, and that performance got him signed by an agent. It also led to a part on The Young and the Restless.
Behind the camera
Okumoto is a producer for The Paper Tigers, a 2020 independent film, and he also has a small role in it.
