Plot summary
Sentinel, a global game developer, hands its newest first person shooter to Max Troy, a video game champion, for testing. The events he plays through begin to appear in the world outside the screen, and the character he commands is a real person: Orson Creed, a former Sentinel employee whose body is being run by the corporation from a distance, for reasons the company does not share. With the line between the game and the city gone, Max and Creed join forces to get to the bottom of what Sentinel is doing before the events in the game spread further through the city.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Director Nicholas Gyeney said the record for the longest long-take fight sequence, three-and-a-half minutes, was held by the Korean film Oldboy, and that Beta Test's goal was to destroy that record.
- Nicholas Gyeney cast Beta Test without auditions or screen tests, saying "I'm not Steven Spielberg": scripts were sent to actors he was familiar with, and those who liked the script were cast.
- Seattle was chosen for the shoot because it is Nicholas Gyeney's hometown; he said an action film there would diversify a local film community dominated by indie dramas and could bring work to local stunt teams.
