Plot summary
David Brandt is an FBI agent working undercover as Nick Davis, a convict who died in prison. He drives a forklift at a Los Angeles harbor warehouse owned by the Tendo crime family, whose patriarch is Isshin Tendo. When the Italian Mafia, led by Dino Campanela, assaults the building, Brandt saves Shuji Sawamoto, who represents Yakuza interests in America. Sawamoto takes him into the Yakuza, and after Brandt swears his oath, Sawamoto is his godfather in the family. Campanela denies ordering the attack. Brandt's FBI handlers, among them Sam, expect him to stay in the family's good graces and to keep reporting on the organization.
