Plot summary
John Brennick and his family live in hiding in the mountains of North America, hunted by the Men-Tel corporation. When three rebels ask him to help destroy Men-Tel's new power station, he refuses, wanting to protect his wife, Karen, and his son, Danny. After the visitors leave by boat, Men-Tel helicopters appear. John sends Karen and Danny through an underground passage and draws the soldiers after him; the chase leaves a helicopter destroyed and his Jeep overturned, and he is captured. He wakes in a room and a voice tells him he is a prisoner again, under sentence of death. A device implanted in him sends headaches when prisoners enter forbidden areas, and his new prison is a space station orbiting Earth.

- Christopher Lambert was the only original actor to return for the sequel. Loryn Locklin, who played Karen B. Brennick in the first film, did not come back, and Beth Toussaint took over the role.
