Woodrow Parfrey
Biography
Woodrow Parfrey was an American film and television actor who worked from the 1950s to the early 1980s. Born in New York City, he acted mostly on Broadway and regional stages in the late 1940s and 1950s before moving into television and film in the 1960s. He won a Fanny Kemble Award for playing Herbert Gelman in the Broadway production of Advise and Consent in 1961. Though usually a supporting player, he took many guest roles on shows such as The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Perry Mason, and Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. He played storekeeper Ike Godsey in The Homecoming: A Christmas Story (1971), the pilot for The Waltons, and had his only regular role in the short-lived 1979 series Time Express. His films included Planet of the Apes (1968), Dirty Harry (1971), Papillon (1973), Charley Varrick (1973), The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976), and Used Cars (1980). He died in 1984.
