Sondra Locke
Biography
Sondra Locke was an American actress who also directed films. She began in regional show business at Nashville radio station WSM-AM and its TV affiliate before moving into film. Her feature debut, The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter (1968), brought an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress and two Golden Globe nominations. She went on to box-office successes including Willard (1971), The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976), The Gauntlet (1977), Every Which Way but Loose (1978), Bronco Billy (1980), Any Which Way You Can (1980), and Sudden Impact (1983), working regularly with Clint Eastwood. Other credits include A Reflection of Fear (1972) and The Prophet's Game (2000). She also directed four films, notably Impulse (1990), and wrote an autobiography. Her last film was Ray Meets Helen (2018). Locke died in 2018.
