Biography

Robert Wisdom is an American actor known for a long run of television roles. Born in Washington, D.C., to Jamaican immigrant parents, he attended Columbia University, where he was a sprinter, after turning down track scholarships. Acting classes as a senior drew him to the stage, and he began at the Bush Theatre in London before working throughout England and Scotland. On television he played Bunny Colvin in four seasons of The Wire, mostly the third and fourth, and Lechero on Prison Break, with recurring parts on Supernatural, Happy Town and Burn Notice. He was a series regular on Nashville from 2012 to 2013 as Coleman Carlisle, and starred as Jim Moss on Barry from 2022 to 2023, earning a Screen Actors Guild ensemble nomination. His films include Barbershop 2: Back in Business (2004) and Freedom Writers (2007). He received an NAACP Image Award and produced for NPR's All Things Considered.
