Plot summary
Calvin Palmer Jr. owns the South Side Chicago barbershop his late grandfather founded. Quentin Leroux opens a rival shop, Nappy Cutz, across the street, and gentrification threatens the neighborhood's businesses. Leroux and Alderman Lalowe Brown offer Calvin money for his backing of the city council's redevelopment legislation. Isaac, the only white barber, is the shop's star and feels neglected. Terri works on her temper and her attraction to Ricky, while Dinka remains interested in her. Jimmy has left for a job with Brown, and Calvin's cousin Kenard, fresh from barber school, replaces him.
